**MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM LARGE AND SMALL IN EXCEL**

Maximum function returns maximum values in a given range while minimum returns minimum value

The syntax for maximum value is =MAX(range)

**MAXIMUM**

Type “=” followed by max where the value should be placed

Then select the range

Finally enter

You can now auto fill the formula to the other cells

MINIMUM

Minimum works in a similar way and returns the lowest value

Its syntax is =MIN(range)

**LARGE**

Large function return returns the nth large value

Syntax =LARGE(array,k)

Array is the range

K is the is the large number eg the fifth etc

In the example below we get the 3^{rd} largest

Type = the LARGE and select the range

Put a comma then type 3

Then enter

Then auto fill the formula in the other cells

**COMBINING SUM AND LARGE**

If you want to add the first largest 3 figures

Syntax =SUM(LARGE(array,{1,2,3}))

Not the use of the curry brackets following by the ones we want to sum( 1^{st} ,2^{nd}, and 3^{rd})

Click where you want your answer to be and type = followed by SUM then an opening bracket and then type LARGE or select from pop up menu type another opening bracket and select the range

Type a comma followed by a curry bracket and then 1, 2, 3

Close the curry bracket

Close the other two brackets

Enter then auto fill the formula for the other cells

NOTE

**SMALL FUNCTION** works in a similar way but returns from the smallest

You can try summing up the 3 smallest numbers
